2023
30th May: The KCA 3-UP Team Time Trial takes place on Sunday 2nd July. There aren’t many opportunities to draft another bike and this event always produces some fantastic results. Gather your teams and get those entries in early. A huge thank you to Terry Blake and the team at Woolwich CC for their promotion of this event – they are offering some great prizes for TT, Road Bike and Combined teams. Enter here: https://cyclingtimetrials.org.uk/race-details/25331

22nd May: It’s the final day to enter the Southborough & District Wheelers Open 10 mile that takes place on Saturday 27th May – some good prize money and also important KCA TT Interclub League Ladder points up for grabs. Hearing there are already 40+ riders signed up… get that entry in quick.

22nd May: The KCA have taken the decision to remove the 12 hour event from our KCA & Men’s Long Distance Championships – this decision has been made to better align with the updated CTT competitions and reflect the limited national options to ride 12 hour events. Please take a look at the KCA Long & Short competition details and let’s get as many riders as possible trying to win these trophies.
As a reminder there are still KCA 12 hour trophies that people can ride for.
29th April: The KCA 3 Up Team Time Trial is being held on Sunday 2nd July on the Q25/3 starting near Hamstreet. Entries Close 23rd June via the CTT website.
Last year’s event was held in perfect conditions and we have booked similar for this year! We aim to bring together riders of all ages and standards in this rare opportunity to represent your Club in a TEAM Time Trial. Last year the fastest females were a team of Juvenile riders !
There will be a seperate award to the Club which records the fastest COMBINED time of a Road Bike team added to their ‘TT’ Bike squad. This will be an addition to the usual awards for Road and TT Bike Teams.
Please put this Event in your Club’s Race programme and we look forward to seeing a full field. All enquiries to Event Organiser Terry Blake Woolwich CC. E/Mail terry.blake4@btinternet.com
29th April: Ahead of the Wigmore 25 mile event the KCA TT Interclub League Ladders have been updated. These will be finalised at 18:00h this evening.
17th April: KCA 10 & 2022 Trophy Presentation – we are grateful to photographer Matt Bristow for his brilliant images of the day. The KCA have purchased the high res files to make available to all 36 riders who took part and our 2022 winners. Take a look at the gallery – then download and update your social media profiles or even better get a stunning print for the mantlepiece!

16th April: KCA 10 Mile (Q10/50) – a new course and some familiar faces as the KCA TT season pushed off. Pete Elms, Bob Giles & John Longbottom worked hard over the last week to register and approve a new 10 mile course, quite possibly the flattest bit of road in Kent. However, despite chilly conditions and new tarmac it was the familiar faces of Nic Fennell (Thanet RT) & Alex Clay (Team Bottrill) who recorded the fastest male & female times. There were also well deserved veterans awards for Richard Birtwhistle & Shay Giles.
14th April: KCA League Ladder – R1 – Event 2! Please get signed up for the Wigmore CC 25 mile TT (Sunday 30th April), this is the second event in our new KCA TT League Ladder. We can add new riders and clubs to the competition at anytime. Entry closes on 21st April.

13th April: KCA 10 Mile TT – Sunday 16th April
Hopefully everyone has seen the updated course info, the organisers have done a fantastic job gaining district & police approval for this new course. Good luck everyone and thank you again to our wonderful marshals & timekeepers.
The KCA TT League Ladder comp also kicks off… we’ve 50+ riders from 23 clubs taking part. Please take a look at the DRAFT ladder divisions and email me with any glaring errors. As you can imagine there is no way of doing this perfectly, particular with so many riders coming back. The marshals are currently leading the standings!

23rd March: The KCA TT League Ladder competition is officially launched. This new competition has been created to encourage more riders to take part in Kent TT events organised by the KCA, VTTA & KCA affiliated clubs. There’s some good prizes up for grabs… but you’ve got to be in it to win it!

22nd March: The KCA 25 mile TT will take place on Sunday 16th April and will be followed by the KCA 2022 Awards Event: https://www.cyclingtimetrials.org.uk/race-details/25293

The KCA 3up 25 is coming up on the 14 August 2022
John Longbottom, San Fairy Ann is helping the Woolowich CC to run this event. The course has been changed to a new version (Q25/3) that runs between the Brenzett roundabout and the Cloverleaf roundabout with a start near Hamstreet (close to the 50 mile start). This takes out the section from Brenzett to Brookland (level crossing and boot fair) and the section from cloverleaf to Kingsnorth roundabouts and back. Hopefully it will be faster and safer. The closing date has been extended up to Friday 5 August.

28th June: Tony Peachey (De Laune CC) – rest in peace
Val Peachey has informed us that Tony sadly passed away peacefully and pain free on 8th June at 11.15pm in Portree Community Hospital. As many will know he had been unwell for a number of years suffering from heart issues, vascular dementia and Alzheimers. His fight is now over.
Tony was laid to rest in a picturesque cemetery in Portnalong, Isle of Skye on Friday 24th June. Val has asked that any donations be made to Dementia UK and that a Just Giving Page is also being set up; there are also plans for a memorial service and get together for Tony that will be held in the Kent area. More details will follow on this. Rest in peace Tony.

17th April: KCA 25 mile – promoted by 1904T (organised by Pip Jenkins) – results sheet

In the ladies race it was Jennifer George (The Independent Pedaler – Nopinz) who finished first with an impressive 55:54 to scoop the £30 prize & first Easter egg. Kate Thomas (Lewes Wanderers) 01:01:59 (£20) & Rebecca Wilson (Rye & District Wheelers) 01:04:49 (£10) rounded out the podium. In the men’s event it was a Fennell 1-2 with Chris (The Independent Pedaler – Nopinz) 51:27 taking first place (£30), followed by Nic (Thanet RC) 52:25 (£20). Third place went to Ronnie Stone (Regents Park Rouleurs) 52:28 (£10).
In the Ladies Road Bike event, first place went to Julia Barte (1904T) 01:09:24 (£20), followed by Gillian Selman (Old Ports) 01:12:28 (£10). The men’s Road Bike was a close dual between Gemini BC riders, with Huseyin Vardal (57:24 – £20) & Neil Harrigan (57:29 – £10); with Henry Weaver (SDW) 01:12:31 as first junior rider and picking up a aeightbikeco Full Stripdown Rebuild Precision Service prize (worth £175).

11th April: KCA 25 (Q25/12) – 50 signed up, desperate call for marshals for 17th April event
Dear Club Secretaries,
We are now just a week away from the next KCA TT, which is due to be held on the Q25/12 on 17th April. A very encouraging 50 riders have signed up to the event, proving the ongoing demand. Unfortunately, the situation from a marshalling perspective is less promising, with only nine of the necessary 14 marshals having volunteered their services so far.
Given the obvious appetite for the event, it would be a great shame if it needs to be cancelled, but that is the situation that we will find ourselves in if the requisite number of marshals is not found within the next few days.
Since my previous email, I have updated the number of marshals still required by each KCA-affiliated club, reflecting the offers of help we have had since then. Please see the attached spreadsheet for the latest information on this. In particular, it would be good to see some of the clubs that have not yet pledged any marshals this season step forward. Hopefully, my next email to you will not be to tell you that the event has had to be cancelled.
Regards, Mark Doxey, KCA Marshal Secretary
3rd April: KCA 10 mile – promoted by Ashford Wheelers (organised by Lee Buckman) – results sheet
The first KCA TT of 2022 kicked off in bitterly cold conditions with just 12/30 riders braving the Q10/1 course. It was Conall Yates (Team Vinci Solo) who finished 1st Male, clocking a time of 22:21 to earn a well deserved £30 award. He was closely followed by Paul Burrows (Thanet RC) whose 22:27 time was enough for 2nd place & £20 award. In 3rd place it was Matthew Smith (Colour Tech RT) 22:45 (£10). Our first female rider was Hannah Graveney (AWOL O’Shea Worx) in 26:01 (£30) & 14 year old Augustus Harris (SDW) was 1st Junior, scooping £10 for his PB effort.
In the Road Bike event there were powerful rides from Ida Smith (Onyx RT) 28:00 & Huseyin Vardal (Gemini BC) 23:37 to secure the 1st female & 1st male awards respectively. Paul Turner (34th Nomads) finished 2nd male (£10).
Well done to everyone who rode and massive thanks to our organiser Lee Buckman and the enthusiastic marshal team from Ashford Wheelers.
