2022

30th September: KCA Reliability Trial will take place on Sunday 30th October

We are excited to announce details about the KCA RT 2022 – we have revised the organisation a little based on your feedback. Please see details here!

1st August: KCA 3UP TTT – 14th August 2022 (now accepting solo entries – by 5th August)

The KCA 3up 25 is coming up on the 14 August 2022

John Longbottom, San Fairy Ann is helping the Woolowich CC to run this event. The course has been changed to a new version (Q25/3) that runs between the Brenzett roundabout and the Cloverleaf roundabout with a start near Hamstreet (close to the 50 mile start). This takes out the section from Brenzett to Brookland (level crossing and boot fair) and the section from cloverleaf to Kingsnorth roundabouts and back. Hopefully it will be faster and safer. The closing date has been extended up to Friday 5 August.

Link to the road bike event is https://www.cyclingtimetrials.org.uk/race-details/24162

HOT OFF THE PRESS: The KCA have now added a solo event to the day so if you don’t fancy a 3up you can go solo: https://www.cyclingtimetrials.org.uk/race-details/24613

28th June: Tony Peachey (De Laune CC) – rest in peace

Val Peachey has informed us that Tony sadly passed away peacefully and pain free on 8th June at 11.15pm in Portree Community Hospital. As many will know he had been unwell for a number of years suffering from heart issues, vascular dementia and Alzheimers. His fight is now over.

Tony was laid to rest in a picturesque cemetery in Portnalong, Isle of Skye on Friday 24th June. Val has asked that any donations be made to Dementia UK and that a Just Giving Page is also being set up; there are also plans for a memorial service and get together for Tony that will be held in the Kent area. More details will follow on this. Rest in peace Tony.

In the ladies race it was Jennifer George (The Independent Pedaler – Nopinz) who finished first with an impressive 55:54 to scoop the £30 prize & first Easter egg. Kate Thomas (Lewes Wanderers) 01:01:59 (£20) & Rebecca Wilson (Rye & District Wheelers) 01:04:49 (£10) rounded out the podium. In the men’s event it was a Fennell 1-2 with Chris (The Independent Pedaler – Nopinz) 51:27 taking first place (£30), followed by Nic (Thanet RC) 52:25 (£20). Third place went to Ronnie Stone (Regents Park Rouleurs) 52:28 (£10).

In the Ladies Road Bike event, first place went to Julia Barte (1904T) 01:09:24 (£20), followed by Gillian Selman (Old Ports) 01:12:28 (£10). The men’s Road Bike was a close dual between Gemini BC riders, with Huseyin Vardal (57:24 – £20) & Neil Harrigan (57:29 – £10); with Henry Weaver (SDW) 01:12:31 as first junior rider and picking up a aeightbikeco Full Stripdown Rebuild Precision Service prize (worth £175).

Well done to everyone who rode and massive thanks to our organiser Pip Jenkins and the enthusiastic timekeepers and marshals who were full of encouragement throughout the event.

11th April: KCA 25 (Q25/12) – 50 signed up, desperate call for marshals for 17th April event

Dear Club Secretaries,
We are now just a week away from the next KCA TT, which is due to be held on the Q25/12 on 17th April. A very encouraging 50 riders have signed up to the event, proving the ongoing demand. Unfortunately, the situation from a marshalling perspective is less promising, with only nine of the necessary 14 marshals having volunteered their services so far.
Given the obvious appetite for the event, it would be a great shame if it needs to be cancelled, but that is the situation that we will find ourselves in if the requisite number of marshals is not found within the next few days.
Since my previous email, I have updated the number of marshals still required by each KCA-affiliated club, reflecting the offers of help we have had since then. Please see the attached spreadsheet for the latest information on this. In particular, it would be good to see some of the clubs that have not yet pledged any marshals this season step forward.  Hopefully, my next email to you will not be to tell you that the event has had to be cancelled.

Regards, Mark Doxey, KCA Marshal Secretary

3rd April: KCA 10 mile – promoted by Ashford Wheelers (organised by Lee Buckman) – results sheet

The first KCA TT of 2022 kicked off in bitterly cold conditions with just 12/30 riders braving the Q10/1 course. It was Conall Yates (Team Vinci Solo) who finished 1st Male, clocking a time of 22:21 to earn a well deserved £30 award. He was closely followed by Paul Burrows (Thanet RC) whose 22:27 time was enough for 2nd place & £20 award. In 3rd place it was Matthew Smith (Colour Tech RT) 22:45 (£10). Our first female rider was Hannah Graveney (AWOL O’Shea Worx) in 26:01 (£30) & 14 year old Augustus Harris (SDW) was 1st Junior, scooping £10 for his PB effort.

In the Road Bike event there were powerful rides from Ida Smith (Onyx RT) 28:00 & Huseyin Vardal (Gemini BC) 23:37 to secure the 1st female & 1st male awards respectively. Paul Turner (34th Nomads) finished 2nd male (£10).

Well done to everyone who rode and massive thanks to our organiser Lee Buckman and the enthusiastic marshal team from Ashford Wheelers.
